About our competitions
What competitions can I enter?
Bowls Yorkshire runs a full programme of competitions each season, providing opportunities for bowlers across Yorkshire to compete, progress, and achieve county honours. These include competitions that you can enter as individual bowlers such as singles, pairs, triples and fours and competitions that you can enter as a club such as the Mixed Top Club.
Some competitions provide the opportunity to represent Yorkshire in the Bowls England National Finals at Leamington.
A full list of competitions organised by Bowls Yorkshire is on the Competitions List page. If you click on a competition on the list you can view further details about that competition including format, entry fees and any particular arrangements for that competitions.
Bowls England also run some other competitions that you can enter directly through their Competitions Portal.
How do I find out about competition rules?
County stages of Bowls England National Championships & Competitions and Bowls Yorkshire only competitions are covered by the Bowls Yorkshire Rules Document. For all Bowls England inter county competitions and directly managed Bowls England competitions please refer to the relevant BE rules and regulations - see our Rules and Regulations page for more information.
Competition Zones
Some competitions are played in zones to keep travel manageable and make it easier for clubs across a large county to take part. Grouping nearby clubs together helps fixtures run smoothly and reduces pressure on players and volunteers. Where entry numbers are low, zonal play isn’t always possible, but wherever practical it ensures early rounds can be completed fairly before moving into the county‑wide stages. Click here to see what zone you are in.
How do I enter?
Entry forms are available on the Enter our Competitions page. The form includes details of how to pay. Some clubs compile entries from their bowlers on to one form, collect payments from their bowlers and then make one payment to Bowls Yorkshire. Other bowlers complete and submit the form and payment individually.
From 2027 we are hoping to offer online entry and payment for competitions.
How do I arrange my matches?
The Competition Secretaries arrange a draw and this is published on our Draws and Results page. The draws show dates by which each round should be played. The early rounds for some competitions are played on one date or on a single date in each zone.
Competitors whose name is at the top in the draw should contact their opponent to arrange the match. Contact details of competitors are here. You will need a password to access this area – email the Competition Secretaries to request.
How do I report results?
Immediately after your match you should contact the relevant Competition Secretary to report the result of your match. See further details of reporting results, and contact details for Competition Secretaries, on the Draws and Results page.
At the end of each round the Competition Secretaries will update the results and post on the Draws and Results page.
What happens on Finals Day
Towards the end of the season Bowls Yorkshire holds a Finals Day where the finals of our competitions are played. Details of the format for the day will be posted on the Finals Day page when available.
How can I see past winners?
The Honours page lists past winners of our competitions in a searchable database.
